Shift Manager

Reporting to the Production Manager the Shift Manager will work with the Production Managers and Site Management team to achieve Site targets and meet and exceed customer expectations. He/ She will co-ordinate and control all the activities within their respective teams to meet production targets, quality, environmental, maintenance, people, H&S and cost objectives on a day-to-day basis and in doing so will be a key person in driving shift and site performance.

Core responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:

  1. Promote a safety culture within the site, monitor adherence to all EHS standards and procedures;
  2. Effectively lead a large team of operators to ensure production output targets are met, effective workgroup meetings are conducted and management of maintenance team (out of hours);
  3. Monitoring shift performance and driving your team to achieve all relevant KPIs;
  4. Working with Planning to ensure plan fulfilment, throughput, efficiency, quality, cost and OEE delivery;
  5. Managing colleague performance and ensuring team development and communication measures are in place and that training records are maintained and compliant to demonstrate skills and competence of team;
  6. Monitoring product quality and ensuring compliance with RFT, Hygiene, Incident Reporting, Change Control and technical standards;
  7. Supporting audits and customer visits as required and implementing actions arising from audits and visits;
  8. Completing all Oracle system requirements to maintain accurate financial data;
  9. Supporting CI using established tools and techniques to successfully root cause issues and drive improvements and that actions are implemented;
  10. Actively manage payroll, yield and ingredient usage ensuring that measures are implemented to address deviations;
  11. Responsible for ensuring that areas within your span of control are audit ready at all times, that audit recommendations and solutions to customer complaints are implemented fully within the designated timeframes;
  12. COD and Hydraulic loading incident reporting and investigating.

  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong sense of personal responsibility for the areas within your span of control and a capacity to build strong working relationships with people;
  5. Proven ability to effectively use core CI tools and techniques with a demonstrated CI mindset to seek and implement opportunities to drive improvement of standards and output on site;
  6. Excellent People Management skills with an aptitude for leading and developing your team to deliver all targets (production and cost) and an ability to obtain results through teamwork, motivation and real employee engagement.
  7. Flexible and adaptable with a proven track record in positively responding to changing work demands. Candidates for this position must possess:
  8. Third Level qualification in a relevant discipline (Food Science, Technology, Engineering);
  9. Previous relevant experience in a similar role;
  10. Proven excellence across the key competencies identified above;
  11. Capable of understanding the underlying processes across the full remit of the role;
  12. Strong business acumen, customer focus and commercially aware;
  13. Proven record in maintaining safe work environments;
  14. Passion to apply key continuous improvement principles in a fast-moving production environment
  15. Performance driven with a proven track record of achievement, high integrity and capability to exercise sound judgement in decision-making
