Reporting to: General Manager

The Clinical Manager will play a key role in the management and development of Our services in attaining a standard of excellence in an ever evolving and lean environment. You will be responsible for ensuring optimum standards of service are delivered.

The post holder will be responsible for the provision of both managerial and clinical leadership of the highest calibre.

Main Accountabilities

Management

  • Lead out the management of clinical services in a progressive, dynamic and lean environment.
  • Consolidate and support the leadership of the clinical management group to include CIT Services Manager, Triage Nurse staff and all Clinical Service staff.
  • Support, assist and facilitate colleagues in achieving highest possible outcomes in the clinical service.
  • Design, develop and implement policies and procedures reflecting best practice to support service delivery.
  • Support the culture of continuous improvement through the identification and provision of appropriate programmes of development.
  • Lead out, provide instruction and guidance in clinical training and development.
  • Liaise with Senior clinicians to support the clinical functions of the service.
  • Exercise authority in the running of the delivery of clinical services.
  • Function as a role model, promote best practice in the delivery of care, and provide clinical expertise and support within the teams.
  • Encourage a culture of openness and participation through effective communication.
  • Participate in the setting of budgets, ensuring that agreed budgets are managed effectively, working within the constraints of budgets and provide monthly reports to the General Manager.
  • Match activity levels with staffing and take responsibility for staff, appraisal, training and discipline.
  • Provide leadership in all aspects of corporate/clinical governance to involve risk, FMD, drugs and therapeutics.

Professional

  • Act as a champion for all clinical management and related quality and compliance matters.
  • Communicate and develop clinical guidelines and recommendations in cooperation with the CIT Clinical Development Specialist and Medical Directors.
  • Exercise leadership in programme design and development of key components of Clinical Governance, FMD legislation, Drugs and Therapeutics Committee.
  • Oversee pharmaceutical supply chain management, inventory levels, and service usage.
  • Lead out the Drugs and Therapeutics Committee.
  • Advise in the Identification, assessment and prioritization of risks followed by the coordination of resources to minimize, monitor and control probability of impact.
  • Maintain records and manage data in accordance with the mandatory legal requirements, ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  • Development of a quality assurance strategy
  • Develop services and new models of clinical practice necessary to support the improvement of the service.
  • Ensuring that regular audit of quality is in place to allow managerial action to identify gaps in systems and take remedial action when quality expectations are not met.

Qualities & Education

  • A professional qualification e.g. RGN, Masters Business qualification
  • A minimum of 5 years post registration experience including 2 years in practice / community nursing CNM2 Level.
  • Relevant professional managerial work experience with a minimum of 3 years at middle management or above
  • Experience of clinical governance
  • Committed to professional development
  • Instructor level in a range of specific areas for key training of nurses
