Health and Safety Specialist

R.T. Lane Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Health and Safety Specialist to join a EHS team within a pharmaceutical company based in Carlow.

This is an 11-month contract with strong potential for extension.

Essential Criteria:

• Technical Bachelor Degree in Environmental Health & Safety or Technical Bachelor’s Degree (Science/Engineering).
• Post-grad EHS qualification would be a plus.
• Ideally 3+ years’ EHS experience in Pharmaceutical or other highly regulated industry.
• Proven track record of success in the environmental health and safety sector.
• Experience on supporting multiple activities/projects.
• ‘Safety First’ mind-set.
• Team player, capable of working within a multi functionary team environment; and to periodically lead teams.
• Enthusiastic with a strong drive for results.
• Self-directed, capable of using own initiative to make EHS improvements.
• Dedicated to maintaining high standards, with the courage and candour to ensure things are done properly onsite – ‘right first time.’

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Analyses and inspect work environments and procedures to ensure adherence to regulations on safety, health, and the environment.
2. Designs programs to prevent disease or injury to workers and damage to the environment.
3. Collaborates with management to institute controls and remedial measures for hazardous and potentially hazardous conditions or equipment.
4. Conducts safety training and education programs and demonstrates the use of safety equipment.
5. Coordinates “right-to-know” programs regarding hazardous chemicals and other substances. Works with moderate work direction and is skilled and knowledgeable to the position.
